Welcome to Historic Downtown Branson
Downtown is where Branson got its start around 1888. It’s a shopping and entertainment destination with the flavor of an “old time” Main Street, preserved building facades, brick sidewalks and Victorian lamp posts. Historic downtown Branson is located just east of Hwy 65 along the shores of Lake Taneycomo.  Today, Lake Taneycomo is a premier trout-fishing stream that offers visitors the opportunity to spend a relaxing day sightseeing or fishing on the water. In the mid 1920’s the lake earned its reputation as a pristine fishing spot.
Downtown Branson has a flavor of America’s old time mercantile district. Its historic railroad depot on Main Street is now home to Branson Scenic Railway, which offers rides through the countryside in authentic 1950’s luxury passenger cars.
From down-home cooking to gourmet specialties in quaint settings, Downtown Branson offers a great variety of dining choices along its tree-lined streets.   From an Ozark favorite of biscuits and gravy to traditional homemade breads and cobblers, you’re bound to find a menu item for even the pickiest of eaters. While most offer American fare, among the downtown restaurants are Italian, Greek and Thai cuisine.
After dinner don’t forget to stop by one of our wonderful sweet shops where you can sample chocolates, candies, nuts and gourmet coffee. Or stroll into an old ice cream parlor for a refreshing treat.  So whether you are looking for dining for the entire family, a group of friends or an intimate dinner for two, you are sure to be delighted in Historic Downtown Branson.
Stroll the brick lined sidewalks of Historic Downtown Branson for a relaxing shopping experience away from the hustle and bustle.  You will not find a more unique combination of shops than in Historic Downtown Branson.  From Dick’s Oldtime 5 & 10 store to handcrafted moccasins to beautiful landscape paintings and prints from award-winning artist, T. Morgan Crain. You will find cuckoo clocks, Victorian lace, leather goods, handmade quilts or custom-made stained glass. Historic downtown Branson is sure to provide you with a shopping experience that will keep you coming back for more.
Downtown Branson is rich in history with 19 historic sites. Guided historic walking tours are available by appointment, or you may take the tour on your own, with a map provided by the Downtown Branson Main Street Association at 119 W. Pacific Street. The self-guided tour map is also available by calling 417-334-1548.
